Bridal Syle: Colored Shoes

Not a new trend, but I love when brides wear a colorful shoe- it brings such personality & unique style to the big day. When just standing, you can't see the color, but every once in a while the pop of color peeks out... so fun!

Custom (DIY) Gift Bows

Love this idea: make your own Gift Bows! For a wedding, this would be super cute on your Bridal Party/ Parent gifts or on the Out Of Town Bags. Would love this made with a map of the city you're getting married in, or photocopies of your invites... the personalization possibilities are endless!

DIY Gift Bow

The original tutorial uses a page from a magazine, so you could easily do this with any standard piece of paper - meaning that you can print off your own map from Google Maps or MapQuest, or make a collage or items & then just need access to a photocopier.

You can find the tutorial over on How About Orange (I originally spotted it on Sparkle Thots).

Well Wishes Abloom

I came across this ingenious idea on Kelley Moore's blog & had to share. I love this idea for a bridal shower, especially when the bride & groom are new homeowners. My sister is getting married this summer & will be moving into her fiancee's house, so this would be a cute way to help her make the place her home too.
A common bridal shower activity is to write advice for marriage for the newlyweds- it would be so sweet to have guests write them on these cards. The newlyweds can then plant the words of their friends and family and turn those thoughts into a beautiful garden!

To make this even more personal (you could use the bride's favorite flowers!), you can also make your own plantable paper.

Unique Groom's Gift

I love these cufflinks as a unique groom's gift - the bride could fill them with their vows, a favorite quotation, or a lyric from their first dance song. Manly, yet sweet... perfect!

Blue & Red Wedding

One of the hardest decisions to make when planning a wedding is the color theme. The colors can really tie all the pieces of an event together - the bridesmaid dresses, invitations, table settings - so you have to pick something you'll love to see everywhere you turn on the big day.

What a wonderful idea for a light, fresh summer wedding!

(PS: I've been hunting for these pops & haven't found them yet... the closest I've come can be seen in the following items: here, here, here, and here)
Blue & Red is a beautiful combo- its somehow both sophisticated & playful. These colors, in the wrong hues, can be hard to pull off... if the blue gets too navy, you quickly have a patriotic theme... which may not be what you were going for. I adore the way this couple used vintage-style candies to pull in these colors - so gorgeous!

Welcome!

Hi there & welcome to my little corner of the world! I have an obsession with all things wedding & entertaining... and rather than trying to assign myself as wedding planner when friends get engaged (true, they typically happily oblige), I thought it was about time to have my own place to share what I love. Below you'll see some posts from a blog I started years ago (literally!)... I hope that you find some inspiration here too, no matter what kind of event you're planning!
